Homeward Bound

Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail. Confucius

Back from the Swiss alps to the beautiful coastline of Norfolk and Suffolk with beach walks, camping trips and seeing so many friendly faces!

Over the past few days I have had some random meetings with young people waiting for their A level results. I remember the day I received mine. College days were not the best of my life for various reasons and needless to say, my results were not great either. In fact, I failed one of my A levels and seeing it there on a piece of paper in black and white honestly felt at the time like the worst thing in the world. I didn’t at that time realise that failure would lead me to a different university, to the most wonderful group of friends and the best five years in north London.

So, if you’re receiving that piece of paper (or I imagine it’s probably an email now) then look forward to the journey you’re going on next. It may not be the one you expected, but sometimes unexpected journeys are the best as I’m discovering during my time on the road.

Mountain Magic

The draw of the mountains sees me in Switzerland this week and we have been blessed with sunny days and blue skies to provide amazing views over this majestic landscape. The beautiful family I travelled to Tanzania with last year is who I have had the pleasure of sharing my Swiss adventure with. We have rode mountain trains, cable cars, buses and boats in exploring the Jungfrau region, visiting lakes, waterfalls and Europe’s highest point, complete with an ice palace! On 1st August we also joined in with locals celebrating National Day, enjoying traditional music, dancing, parades and fireworks. The noise of people carrying huge cow bells down the street followed by a torchlit procession was hypnotic.

The alpine flower meadows have been so colourful, the hiking trails a good challenge and the coffee expensive! Would I return? Absolutely!
