After a long Autumn Term with all the festivities and fun, it was off to London Heathrow for the first flight of the trip. Surprisingly on the Saturday before Christmas, terminal 2 was pretty calm with hardly any queues for security or much needed coffee!
Just two weeks ago my flights were cancelled and I’d had to change to new ones with what I thought would be an OK schedule, two night flights with a day layover in Bogotá, Colombia. However, the airline we flew with I will avoid again at all costs - it was not great! But, after 11 hours with not much sleep, it was off to explore Bogotá with it’s Salt Cathedral in Zipaquirá, Monserrate mountain with it’s church and panoramic views over the city and Candelaria, the city’s historic and colourful old town.
Back at the airport, we were exhausted and ready for flight number two…which was delayed! Unfortunately it was with the same airline as the first flight, so again not much sleep was had, but finally we arrived in La Paz, one of the world’s highest cities at 3,650m! No prizes for guessing that at 4am, it was straight to bed! Bolivian adventures would start tomorrow…

Merry Christmas
