First Day of 2026

Well, I won’t forget the first day of the year. After saying goodbye to Iwona, who was flying back to the UK, I set off to explore Santiago…in a heatwave! Never have I appreciated bright, blue gatorade and salty crisps more after a day of sightseeing! 

Interesting artwork in the Bellavista area with its cafe lined streets and after wandering for a while I arrived at the funicular station, so decided to venture up. So glad I did as the views were beautiful. 

Another journey via the cable car plus a short (but incredibly hot) hike up and I arrived to more views over the city and mountains from a Japanese inspired garden!

Sometimes the unplanned days can turn out just fine.
